About UCI Longevity 2.0
The mission of UCI Longevity 2.0 is to identify evidence-based strategies to increase the years of active, healthy life expectancy and develop innovative solutions to addressing the multidimensional challenges of longevity. The effort will bring UC Irvine’s domain experts together to engage in transdisciplinary research programs dedicated to promoting healthy longevity and establishing UC Irvine as a world leader in this area.
We have a unique opportunity to work with the Orange County community to identify and pursue research questions related to healthspan. UCI has a prominent and highly visible center for research on memory impairments and Alzheimer’s disease (UCI MIND), but no concerted effort that focuses on integrating health, sociological, psychological, and policy ramifications of greater longevity. These questions must be addressed if we are to promote independence and healthy functioning across the lifespan.
Our goals include:
-
Launch the UCI Longevity Forecast Forum, an annual public educational service
-
Catalyze interdisciplinary research programs addressing biological, social, political, environmental, and lifestyle issues critical for advancing healthy longevity
-
Build innovative transdisciplinary training programs in longevity science
